Whenever we think of Olympic records Michael Phelps's name comes in mind of any sports fan, Michael Phelps holds the all-time record of winning all total of 28 medals, isn't that a spectacular run in Olympics career? Many players have smashed records by their performance in the Olympics. In this blog, I'm listing some of the most excellent records and accomplishments in all Olympics.
Michael Phelps - Swimming - 2008 Beijing Olympics
Michael Phelps is one of the greatest Olympians of all time. In the 2008 Summer Olympics, he has won a record eight gold medals. He also set an Olympic record in a Pre-heat round of 400m individual medley, and later, he won the gold medal in 400m. In 200m freestyle, he broke his previous world record and won the gold medal. 8 out of 7 were his record-breaking medals. He made a world record in 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly (Olympic record), 200m butterfly, 200m medley, 400m medley, 4x200m freestyle, 4x 200 freestyle, and 4 x 200m medley. In 2012, Michael Phelps retired from swimming, but later in April 2014, Phelps announced that he would be coming back from the retirement & and in the 2016 Summer Olympics, he won 5 Gold medals and one silver medal.
Usain Bolt - Track and Field - 2008 Beijing Olympics
Usain Bolt is the fastest man on the planet, and he is much quicker than any other sprinter in the world. In the 2008 Summer Olympic, Michael Phelps stole all the LimeLight rightfully so because of his incredible tally of medals, but Usain Bolt had different plans in the 2008 Olympics. In the 100m sprint, he won the race in a record time of 9.69 seconds. Later, he also won a gold medal in 200 m race and another gold medal in 4x100m relay. His incredible performance in a hundred meters sprint made him an instant hit worldwide & people around the world copied his unique winning celebration.
Rulon Gardner - Wrestling - 2000 Sydney Olympics
Alexander Karelin came in 2000 Sydney Olympics games with an undefeated streak of 13 years, and any opponent could have got easily intimidating by his streak, but Rulon Gardner had a different plan for him. Rulon Gardner had competed in only a single International tournament while Alexander Karelin was a three-time defending Olympic Champion. In this super wait wrestling match, Rulon Gardner took down Alexander Karelin and won the wrestling gold medal. It is the most exceptional performance by a wrestler to win the super heavyweight gold. What happened that night in Sydney was one of the biggest upset in the history of the Olympic games.
Mo Farah - Athletics/Track - 2012 London Olympics
Mo Farah became a double Olympic champion in London 2012 Olympics. He won gold medals in 5000m and 10000m. He won 10,000m gold in 27:30.42 and 5000m in 13:41.66. His performance was so incredible that the entire Olympic stadium chanted his name, and it was a glorious day for British athletes as he won their first gold medal in the 10000-meter final. In the 5000m race, the reaction noise of the crowd was so huge that the cameraman couldn't take the photo properly. As a result, the end photo finish image was distorted.
Birgit Fischer - Kayaking - 2004 Athens Olympics
Before coming to the 2004 Athens Olympics, Birgit Fischer had already won 7 Olympic Gold Medals. At the age of 42, the German Kayak legend became the only woman to win the Gold Medal in Olympics, 24 years after she won for the first one. In the K-4 500m finals, At the halfway point, Birgit Fischer was trailing by four Hungarian kayakers, but she kept pushing her team, and later she lead her team to victory, and she was the only one to raise the oar despite being tired and exhausted.
USA Softball Team - 2004 Athens Olympics
The USA softball team has shown incredible dominance in the 2004 Summer Olympics. Throughout the entire softball tournament, the Americans outscored their opponents 51-1. They broke the record of previously scored 41 by a team, and previously scored runs against any team. The sport illustrated magazine said that this is "the real dream team." In 2004 Olympics USA has won Olympic gold in softball, and it was their third straight time.
Nadia Comaneci - Gymnastic - 1976 Montreal Olympics.
In 1976 Montreal games Nadiya was just 14 years old. She performed in the uneven bars event, and she scored 10 out of 10, but the electronic scoreboard at that time only display three digits, and it displayed her score as 1.00. No other gymnast has scored 10 out of 10. The Judges of the games said that she deserves ten because of her excellent performance. The perfect ten made her a celebrity overnight.
Dick Fosbury - High Jump - 1968 Mexico City Olympics.
Before the 1968 Olympics, All high jumper used to jump by running scissor-kicking over the bar, but Dick Fosbury who was a civil engineer came up with a plan to arch his body in such way to give an extra push and by running and putting his head and shoulder first towards the bar. Fosbury tried this move for the first time, and it was successful for him, He scored a record of 2.24 meters in the high jump, and after the 1968 Olympics Fosbury Flop jumping technique is the only way to go for the high jump.
